Andria Efthimiou-Mordaunt

Andria began AIDS Activism in the UK in the 1980s, when the death toll was relentless.

In 1996, following the death of her life-partner, high-level PLWA Activist – John James Mordaunt, she founded an NGO to honour his memory. Some of that work can be found here:

In 1998, Andria arranged for PLWA  –  Marsha Burnett – to address the UN General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) on drugs about the negligence and harm of persisting with the International war on drugs, so-called. Marsha was accompanied by Omarya Morales, a Cocalera, who’s house was aerially fumigated very nearly killing her baby of six months

Since then, the numbers of harm Reducing NGOs addressing and mobilising at the UN, has increased consistently, and a few significant gains have been made including the acceptance of Marijuana as Medicine, and Coca, as a Commodity, which can improve the security of thousands of lives in Latin America and beyond

Andria is Mum to teen, Milly and soon to be author. She holds an MSc in Social Policy and Planning from the LSE: it’s dissertation concerns the self-organisation of (daily) drugs users in Europe
